After what seemed like days tying up loose ends, the day finally arrived and I am on my way! I had two decks to finish and a floor install with new vinyl, and with my brother Kevin, we began dismantling part of an old garage that we are having remodeled into a new 3 bedroom house.
Yesterday was my 60th birthday, my sister-in-law and hubby's 10th anniversary, and Susan's last day of work. With everything completed, we all gathered and celebrated at the Elks club with a fantastic steak dinner. I won't be home at Thanksgiving, so it was really great to be with the whole family once again. Juan Motime! (Just say it out loud) ;-)
So, having packed the night before, with some last minute morning additions; thanks everyone for the presents, I was off. No practice runs for me! Just plunge in and go. From now on, it's on-the-job training, and anything that needs changing/re-arranging/exchanging will be done on the road or not at all.
The weather today was absolutely gorgeous. I had been concerned about leaving mid-October, but no worries. In fact, with the liners in my riding pants and jacket, I was actually very hot when not traveling at highway speeds. The liners are coming out!
I think I made the right choice with this little motorsickle. This has now been 2 full days at highway speeds on the little donkey. Kansas City to Monument when I bought it, and now Monument to Albuquerque where my a** is now recovering from the ride. Why do they have to make the seats so hard? It's like sitting on a 2×6.
I don't foresee days that long anymore though. 250 miles or so to El Paso, and then most likely the pace will slow down even more in Mexico. You can subscribe over there on the right, where it says follow by email. Also, I would love to hear comments from you. It lets me know someone is reading this blog. Until next time...
